Are you looking for something fun to do? Did you miss the photo scavenger hunt on Thursday and need to make up for it? Need to ease stress after endless hours of studying for finals? Well, we have just the thing for you: HEALTHY, EDUCATIONAL DISTRACTIONS! Here is a picture of the dance known as the Singkil, as performed by Akbayan during Once Upon a Time in Little Manila. The two photos pictured below have 5 differences between each other. The answers, as well as other fun things from Akbayan, can be found on the “FUN” page of the website.

Good job everyone, we’re finally done! Thanks to everyone for their hard work and dedication on our show.

-Reserve your DVD that is due out in May 2008
-Buy a PCN2008 T-shirt
-Return your costumes and pick up your 30 bucks
-Always remember the good times we had during PCN!!

Akbayan says thanks for the memories, everyone! Hopefully we will see you all next year! To those who decided that “Once Upon a Time in Little Manila” was their last PCN, good luck, farewell, and you will be missed!

Program Pictures

Program pictures are being taken until March 19th, so make sure you sign up to do so before it’s too late.

Whether you are participating in choir, dancing, (cultural or modern) stage crew, or acting, you MUST take a cast picture before the above date.

Both the ad/sponsorship requirement and waiver form must be turned in to have your name and picture in the program so please get those in ASAP!

PCN Cast Meeting

This week we have lots of fun PCN related events for all of your cultural needs! Be sure to come to the Filipino Folk Dance Workshop this Tuesday to learn about the basic history and movements of some folk dances. Also, there is a highly informative, mandatory cast meeting for all participants in PCN the following day. Be sure to bring all your buddies! For our production the mindset is “the more the merrier.”

Filipino Folk Dance Workshop
When: Tuesday, March 4. 7pm-9:30pm
Where: Event Center, Studio B

Please wear comfortable clothes.

This workshop is open to anyone interested and willing to learn. It is an introduction to Filipino Folk dances and includes:

• A brief history of the Philippines and Filipino dance
• The different suites of the Philippines
  
• The importance of Filipino dance
  
• Basic movements

We’ll briefly be going over your participation and waiver sheet, how to put Ads in the PCN program, PCN t-shirt orders, and how to win cool PCN prizes! oh boy!

There is an important cast meeting for ALL PCN members. This it to inform you on important information regarding the show and our  fundraisers.

PCN Practice Begins!

Hello everyone! Although we have school on President’s Day, here’s something to look forward to:

PCN PRACTICE! Choir Practice and Cultural Practice begin! Note the change of location and time for cultural:

Monday: 6:45PM at Duncan Hall (outside)
Wednesday: 6:45PM at Duncan Hall (outside)

For Monday and Wednesday practices please bring a jacket or sweater, as we will be practicing outside! …or maybe we could all grab some coffee or hot chocolate before… hmmm…

ACTING
Also, auditions for this years PCN play starts tomorrow!! Auditions will be held on the first floor of HGH (Look for signs on the front door to direct you to the room). If you have a monologue prepared already you are welcomed to bring it, if not i will have some for you at the auditions.

Audition times are

Monday 6pm to 9pm

Tuesday 6pm to 8pm

Wednesday 6pm to 9pm

If you are unable to make these time please e-mail John-Paul Limpin at jplimpin.n1187@gmail.com and another audition time can be set up for you.

Don’t forget to get those PCN waiver forms in BEFORE you dance! If you don’t have one, pick one up at the Akbayan table.
