What’s Up-er Folks,
I am John-Paul Limpin, JP for short and I am the 2009-2010 Akbayan President. I am a 5th year Majoring in RTVF (Radio, Television, Film), with minors in Theater Arts, and Asian American Studies. I have been apart of Akbayan for good amount of time. I have been an Intern, Media, Social, and Cultural/PCN Coordinator and through all of that I’m still here doing my part to give back to all of you. Other things about me, I am originally from San Francisco and I am also a brother of Alpha Kappa Omega Fraternity. As president, if there is anything you need help with or have questions about the organization, school, or whatever I am always open and willing to lend a hand.

Hey, everyone! My name is Angelica Cortez and I’m Akbayan’s Vice President for the 2009-2010 academic year. So, I’ll start with the basics? Alright, in a nutshell: 4th year at SJSU, left-handed, loves to laugh, learning to play the ukulele, owns too many pairs of shoes and jeans, bookworm, hedgehogs, ducks, cereal, and graham crackers. Haha, okay! When I’m not busy with the demands of school or working, I enjoy spending time with family and going out with friends. I like trying new things; whether it’s embarking on risky ventures, dining on an unknown cuisine, or learning other friends’ cultures – I push myself to have an open-mind and constantly learn. I wouldn’t consider myself an artist, but I do like to draw, paint, and sculpt. That’s it for now; I look forward to meeting all of you this upcoming year. Bye!

Aloha people of the world! People like to call me Malia and you can too! I am currently a second year at San Jose State and am enjoying the beautiful campus. I love love love to play volleyball, the most awesome game ever… and if you want to join me in a game, holla! I am adjusting to the cool norcal weather but gladly adjusting to the winds considering I transferred from the hot and humid LA weather. Making new friends was hard at first but now it’s a breeze once hello’s and name’s are exchanged. I love to smile so brighten my day with a grin and I will throw one back at ya! I grew up in San Jose, CA my whole life, and I’m so glad that I attend SJSU because it is totally awesome. I enjoy the simple things in life and love to keep myself occupied whether it be going to school, eating, hanging out with friends, showering(sometimes ), driving around, eating other people’s food, running, attempting to play the ukulele, talking, walking, singing, and whatever else makes me happy. Don’t be shy to come up and say “HI!” to me because I’m friendly and love to meet new people. Hope you all have a great year!

Kumusta kayo? Hey guys, I’m Angelou Tagal, Community Affairs Chair. Actually, y’all can call me Angie. Let’s get down to business: I’m too legit (to quit). I would love to get to know all of you, because ultimately I’m hear to serve you guys. Now to get to know me, I’m from the San Francisco, CA. I’m a second year Marketing and Graphic Design major. I love laughing, talking, being a leader, and getting to know people. I love good music and singing. YO yo yo! I’m Audrielle Asuncion and I am Angelou Tagal’s Co-Community Affairs Chair. On the real, you guys can call me Trixie. Born in Philippines but raised in San Francisco, and now a second year at SJSU. I’m funny, cool and love to make people laugh but I am hear to help you understand what it means to be an Akbayan member and our Philippine culture. I love to draw, make jokes, and making friends. I’m serious in about my job as a Community Affairs Chair and here for you to learn, live and grow! I love my job because my goal is to make all of you learn, understand and be proud of our culture. Hi! I don’t look it, but I’m 19 years young and am a sophomore. I was born in Torrance, California and I am from Anaheim (no, I don’t go to Disneyland a lot)! I like dogs a lot more than cats; but I have 3 dogs, 4 cats, 2 birds, and a fish! My favorite color is blue. I love the beach. Some of my interests include baking, volleyball, dancing, listening to music, shopping, traveling, eating, and much, much more. I’m currently trying to learn how to play the guitar so if you know how to play, I’m looking for more teachers ;D. I love this club—the members have become my family and I hope that you learn to love Akbayan as much as I have. <3

Hello Akbayaners!  =] Well I’m Annamarie Navarro Quezon and am currently 19 years old. I’m from Martinez (near Concord) but I’m sure not many people still know where that is. Anyway, I have one little sister who is 9 years old – so we’re 10 years a part. I’m a sophomore this 09-10 year and really hoping to graduate in four years. People tend to butcher my name when first meeting me, so I go by several nicknames… but let’s talk about them some other time, haha. This is how you pronounce my name, AH-MEH-THISS. This is my third year being a student at SJSU and my second year being a part of Akbayan. My favorite color is purple and I LOVE to eat and sleep. I also love MUSIC, anything with potatoes, MOVIES, taking pictures, swimming, and meeting new people! I’m down to help anyone in need or who have questions. It’s going to be a great year, everyone! Hey everyone! My name is Kristen Magno and I am the Media and Publications Chair along with my Co, Amethys! I am looking forward to this awesome school year. So some random facts about me: I love the color blue, a left hander but can also write with my right, I used to run cross country and track as well as play basketball and volleyball, I like playing musical instruments such as the guitar, piano, and bandurria. I love eating, baking, going out with my family and friends, and getting to know people. I also love things media related! Hey Akbayan Fam! I’m this year’s KAAMP Papa and I hope to get to know al your guy’s name and favorite Transformers quotes… JK. For those peopl who don’t recognize me as the extra in the new Harry Potter movie, my name is Troy and I am a very chill guy who enjoys spending time yelling Linkin Park songs in the car. I enjoy throwing it down on Rockband 2, feeding my imaginary pet Charizard/ Dragon, speaking in a high pitched voicie, and avoiding coffee. I’m a sensitive guy who likes to throw on a Snuggie and watch The Notebook, Atonement, and The Time Traveler’s Wife. Well, that’s me in a metaphoric nutshell. I hope you take all I say to heart and support the club 110%. Show them that we the best. ONE CAB!!!

Internship Coordinator – Danreb R. Victorio
MAJOR – Journalism (Magazine Emphasis)

Danreb is a second-year Cabinet Member who has a relatively busy schedule. Aside from his duties in Akbayan, Danreb also has a part-time job at H&M, a PR internship with CW Marketing Solutions, and he’s an Associate Editor at Gamer 2.0. This all challenges his skills in time management due to the fact that he has consistently taken more than 18 units every semester. He also spends a lot of time learning and teaching various Philippine folk dances with his background in the Mabuhay Cultural Club of Independence High School and the Hiyas Philippine Folk Dance Company. When he has spare time, he enjoys writing, playing video games, and entertaining people. Danreb is also a very good listener, so whenever you need someone to talk or vent to, this is the guy to go to.
